Sunny Sunshine Faces

Tonight I found that John released a new single with singer Dwane Husbands called "Sunny Sunshine Faces."

Does anyone know the story behind the song? Any idea if there will be more music from these two? Here is the iTunes link.

Moody Blues Today also posted a link to a radio interview that John did recently with 105.9 in Nashville in case anyone missed it. Sounds like the band will be all over this year: US, UK, and northern Europe.

Tried the link, but obviously it's not on now. Can you give us a synopsis?

Hi Crispy,

The link was just to download/buy the song, not listen. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression there.

I did a little more digging about this online and found that the song was originally talked about back in June 2009 on the Traveling Eternity Road message board and was introduced via an interview that John did last summer with Brooklands FM. The archive of the interview does not appear to be available any longer, but TER Head Administrator rainbow_glo wrote a transcript in case you want to read the whole thing.

The nutshell is that Dwane Husbands sang the song and John sang backing vocals. This song was written for the Variety Club of Great Britian, which helps "sick, disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the UK." I agree with a poster in TER, who wrote that the song has an upbeat, island/calypso kind of feel to it. I would say that the song is about how meaningful doing a single thing for a child--like "a day at the seaside"--can be for them, whether the child knows how to express gratitude for it or not.

Do they actually play Moodies music, like things from the albums that aren't the usual ones? I only ask because I find it hard to find radio stations that play anything by them besides the typical fare. I'm always looking for good radio stations to add to my listening list.
